The neutral mind

In Kundalini Yoga we talk a lot about the neutral mind, for us it is as normal as talking about the hands or any other part of the body. But surely when you hear about it for the first time, many doubts have arisen.

The first thing is that we are not used to naming the mind with surnames. When we speak of the mind, we tend to think of something like "THE MIND". As if it were a single and all-powerful entity. Kundalini Yoga teaches us that this is not really so. Yogi Bhajan shows us how the mind is a tool that can function in very different ways.

“Our limited mind is our enemy and our unlimited mind is our best friend. When you become a slave to the mind, it will limit you. When you use it, it will bring you the whole universe. "

Yoga starts from the basis that our mind is, by nature, agitated. That is, we spend most of the day generating negative thoughts, judgments, criticism ... and that we do it out of inertia, practically involuntarily. The practice of yoga increases our levels of consciousness and helps us pay greater attention to aspects of our life that previously went unnoticed. The purity of our thoughts and emotions, little by little, gains relevance among our priorities and the same happens with food, physical health or the quality of our relationships. One of the principles that guides the behavior in yoga is the saucha, which would be like a mental detox; an alert that is activated when we allow ourselves to be carried away by negative thoughts that rob us of energy.

Saucha encourages us to realize the type of thoughts on which we are focusing our attention to consciously select the most positive ones, those that help us to live more fully.

If what we want is to detoxify, physically and mentally, the role of breathing is essential. Breathing well is a guarantee of health and vitality for the body, helps to release tension and provides mental clarity. There are lung cleansing techniques in yoga, but the key is to breathe consciously and deeply for most of the day. The practice of yoga combined with conscious breathing stimulates the production of endorphins (natural painkillers), which reduces the activity of our brain waves. In other words, when we practice yoga we think less and that leads, without a doubt, to a state of greater inner peace.
